Inaugural Curator

The inaugural curator of Liberty Artbank is Geoffrey Hayes, BA (Fine Arts), DipEd. Geoff has a life long association with fine arts as an educator, and is himself a mature and peer-respected painter. His works feature landscapes and nudes, blending a range of media including charcoals, oils, pastels and acrylics. His most popular pieces are undoubtedly the large charcoal sketches of natural settings in the Blue Mountains, presented on broad thick papers, which he characteristically props against a rock or a tree, capturing the last rays of light as dusk falls to night.

Geoff has a strong grounding in art history, theory and methods, and is often consulted by his contemporaries as to the best use of the latest techniques and materials, including advice on achieving archival longevity.

But perhaps most importantly for Liberty Artbank though, Geoff has a thorough knowledge of contemporary artists and acquisitions, which is naturally of vital importance to the art collector.

From time to time, guest curators are consulted for specialist exhibitions, such as photographic, cartooning, textile and ceramic exhibitions.
